Earlier this week, the "Cool for the Summer" singer took to Instagram to reveal that the couple's maltipoo puppy passed away in a "tragic accident," and now she's thanking her fans for their kind words during this difficult time.
"We can't thank you all enough. This has been the most painful week of my life but because Wilmer and I had so much love and support, I've been able to stay strong and will continue to get through this difficult time," she captioned an Instagram collage of her adorable pup, tagging both her pooch and her beau in the post. "The out pour of love and support has been unbelievable and it means the world to us. Love you all tons and ton..."
As fans of Lovato know, Buddy was a loyal member of the former Disney star's family and was a regular fixture on her Instagram account. The snow white pup was a gift to the star late last year and quickly made his mark on social media, garnering 378,000 followers on his own personal page.
In addition to the collage of Buddy, Lovato also posted about meditation on her Instagram page today, captioning a passage titled "This Too Shall Pass."
"Yesterday's meditation. The past me helping the future me," she wrote.
Likewise, Valderamma took to Twitter to thank fans for their kindness in the wake of the couple's loss. "Thank u all sweet people that've showed @ddlovato & me support & love during this time & for loving our little guy (@DemisBuddy) We love u," he posted on Thursday.
Lovato has yet to reveal any details of Buddy's tragic accident. She and Wilmer asked fans for privacy following the death of their furry friend.
"We are absolutely heartbroken to be writing this but Wilmer and I are devastated to inform you that we lost our little angel Buddy last Sunday. He was taken from us way too soon in a tragic accident and though I will never know why this had to happen, I do know that God only puts us through situations that we can handle so with that, together we our staying strong," she wrote.
"We have incredible people around us and so much love and support which is holding us up in this time of need. Buddy was loved by so many people and as small as he was, he made a huge impact in our lives. He truly was human in a way and we were so blessed to have him in our lives."
