Nikki Reed is trading in her fangs for a flag!

The Twilight and Thirteen star is set to join Sleepy Hollow's third season, E! News has confirmed. And it's not just for a guest appearance. No, Reed is taking on the series regular role of Betsy Ross, the seamstress best known for sewing our nation's first flag. Pretty cool, right?

And we're thinking it's not just the Fox hit's crazy-fun storylines that attracted Reed to the role; for its third season, Sleepy Hollow is moving production from Wilmington, N.C.  to Atlanta, where husband Ian Somerhalder just so happens to film The Vampire Diaries. Now that's commitment to making your marriage last!

The Hollywood Reporter first reported the news of Reed's casting.

"We are all very excited to welcome Nikki Reed into the world of Sleepy Hollow," co-creator Len Wiseman told THR. "Nikki's the perfect choice to bring a smart and sexy edge to our show's twisted version of American icon, Betsy Ross."

Of course, seeing as how this is Sleepy Hollow, viewers can expect to see the writers put a fun twist on Betsy Ross, who is described as sexy and unsuspecting when it comes to her physicality. And when she's not busy sewing, she's acting as a secret operative within George Washington's ring of spies, no doubt a major player in stopping the apocalypse.

Fans of Sleepy Hollow will remember that Ichabod (Tom Mison) has mentioned he had dated Ross way back in the day, so it'll be interesting to see their interactions when Reed makes her debut now that (spoiler alert!) his wife Katrina (Katia Winter) is dead. Sorry, Ichabbie fans!

Katrina isn't the only character Sleepy Hollow fans won't be seeing when the show returns as Orlando Jones will not be returning as Capt. Frank Irving. Plus, The GladesClifton Campbell is taking over for exiting showrunner Mark Goffman.

Sleepy Hollow returns Oct. 1 on Fox.
