Welcome to Today, Regis Philbin

The 83-year-old television personality is joining the hit morning show's fourth hour with Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb as a contributor, NBC announced today.

"Regis brings his legendary charm and humor each time he visits TODAY," said Tammy Filler, co-executive producer. "His energy is infectious, and when Regis is around, you never know what will happen."

The talk show duo also announced the news on the show this morning with a silly segment in which Philbin played a bartender before lifting the veil on his new daytime gig.

"We are going to let everyone in on our secret. We thought it would be the perfect person to join our motley crue, Regis Philbin!" Kotb and Gifford said, holding up their glasses of champagne in celebration.

"I wish we had him every day, but he's very busy," Gifford added before revealing Regis will be coming by "once a month."

The two then took Philbin on set, where he was greeted with cheers from the enthusiastic audience before he took a seat at the Today show desk and admitted "it feels good."

Philbin's new spot as a contributor reteams the TV vet with Gifford, with whom he hosted Live! With Kelly and Michael for 15 years from 1985 to 2000.

The actor, who also previously hosted Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, has received 24 daytime Emmy nominations with six wins to date.
