According to BBC News, the Duke of Cambridge surprised England's women's soccer team with a phone call on Wednesday ahead of the Women's World Cup semi-finals when the ladies will take on Japan.
"Many, many congratulations to you all for what you have achieved so far and best of luck for today's match," the father of two told the soccer (football, across the pond) team. "Everyone is following your progress and you are making the country proud."
The women's soccer team is the third in England's history to reach the World Cup Semi-Finals. The last to do so was the men's soccer team in 1990, 24 years after they took home their only FIFA World Cup title in 1966.
"There is a fantastic buzz around the country. You are a true inspiration to all football fans, boys and girls, back home," the Duke said, per BBC News.
The team will have to put up a good fight against Japan, who are currently the reigning champions, but William said he's confident in the squad's impressive skills.
"Japan will be a tough team to beat but you are proving you are one of the best teams in the world and really making history," he said. "Enjoy the game. We all have every faith in you and thank you for giving us all another excuse to stay up late and watch more football! Best of luck. Go get 'em."
The England vs. Japan game will take place today at the Commonwealth Stadium in Edmonton, Canada. Good luck, ladies!
