Clay Matthews and the Green Bay Packers Channeled Their ''Inner J.Lo and Beyoncé'' for Pitch Perfect 2 Cameo

"The whole thing was silly, having guys that were 300-plus pounds singing and dancing and shaking our butts," Matthews recalled to E! News

When you watch Pitch Perfect 2 this weekend, now you'll know what the Green Bay Packers were aiming for when they shot their much-talked-about cameo as a surprising rival for the Bellas.

Packer star Clay Matthews III told E! News this week that he's "not a big dancer," so for their big song-and-dance scene, "we had to surely channel our inner J.Lo and Beyoncé to make those moves happen."

Oh, well mission accomplished, indeed!

"We really had to just jump into it," he added. "We had to figure how to sing and dance with the choreography, but at the end of the day you see a bunch of big guys just shuffling around and shaking their butt and having a good time."

Matthews appears in the film, which opens in theaters today, with Aaron Rodgers' younger brother Jordan Rodgers and teammates David Bakhtiari, Josh Sitton, T.J. Lang and Don Barclay—the latter all huge, muscled, decidedly non-dancer-type guys.

"I think the whole thing was silly having guys that were 300-plus pounds singing and dancing," Matthews said during an exclusive interview with us at a New York event for Hugo Boss Parfums' Success Beyond the Game NFL campaign.

"I think it was ridiculous in our own right. We had so much fun in doing it and it was four days of filming and definitely something that is new to us," the star linebacker added. It was "a lot of long hours but we had a great time 'cause we were all together. I was a little nervous, just 'cause I did not want to mess anything up."

But he and the others did finally get to see the movie last week, so...what's the word on the finished product?

"After seeing the premiere we were all really pleased how it turned out, and we think those Packer fans will love it!" Matthews said.

We're thinking the Pitch Perfect faithful are going to really dig it too. And so how was it working with franchise star Anna Kendrick?

"Anna was so great to us," Matthews said. "I think that's one thing about the entertainment industry: Athletes want to be actors and musicians want to be actors, so it all kind of mixes nice together. Anna was so nice to us and welcoming."

She could also tell, he added, "how much we appreciated being there and how big of fans we were of the original movie, so I think that's what she took away from it, working with her and likewise."

What does the Super Bowl winner consider more difficult, though, football or acting?

"I've been playing football for 20 years now and football comes a little easier then acting," the 29-year-old athlete said, not surprisingly, "so football I feel most comfortable, and I still plan on keeping my day job unless something presents itself."
