Who knew Captain America was sneakier than Black Widow?

During The Ellen DeGeneres Show Thursday, Chris Evans crept up on his Avengers: Age of Ultron co-star Scarlett Johansson, who was oblivious to his presence as she discussed working with the actor so often.

The surprise scare began when Ellen DeGeneres noted that Johansson is outnumbered by her male co-stars. "There's a lot of guys," she said. "I mean, now we have [Elizabeth Olsen] and [Cobie Smulders] both in it, which is helpful. I surround myself with like an army of women to kind of protect me against all the testosterone." Then, she joked, "We're talking about actors! They're very delicate."

"So they're not really men," DeGeneres joked. "They're getting mani-pedis over on the side and stuff like that." Johansson laughed and told the host that her co-star Chris Hemsworth's "hair takes much longer than mine."

"He's so sweet," DeGeneres said. "I love him."

"I know!" Johansson said. "Everybody loves him."

DeGeneres then pointed out that Johansson has worked with Evans in five different movies. Indeed, the actress said, "We've been working together since we were like, I don't know, 17 or something like that."

"So you know him pretty well?" DeGeneres asked.

"I know him very well," she replied. "Too well, I'm sure."

That's when Evans popped up behind her chair and screamed her name!

Guess she doesn't know him well enough to expect that kind of behavior.

After Johansson composed herself, Evans joined her for a game called "Avenger? I Hardly Know Her." DeGeneres asked a series of questions, and each actor had to determine if the answer was true or false. The host also seized the opportunity to show three shirtless stills of Evans in 2011's What's Your Number? and 2011's Captain America: The First Avenger. Just look at the photos—can anyone blame her?
