Scarlet Witch is about to cast a spell on audiences.

Elizabeth Olsen plays the supernatural twin in Avengers: Age of Ultron, in theaters May 1. E! News' Alicia Quarles chatted with the cast exclusively on-set in London last year, where Olsen revealed how she prepared for the role of a lifetime. "We asked them to compile just kind of where our character is in all of the comics in Marvel history, in a way—not just the root, but where they go. We used whatever we wanted from their history to kind of help us pick and choose what makes sense for the story that we're telling, because you can't do certain things because of certain properties. Our characters are owned half over here and half over here," the actress revealed. "We just pick and choose whatever works for us."

(20th Century Fox and Walt Disney Pictures agreed to let Scarlett Witch and Quicksilver appear in both studios' films; however, the characters' origin stories differ. Additionally, Aaron Taylor-Johnson plays Quicksilver in Avengers: Age of Ultron, while Evan Peters played the character in 2014's X-Men: Days of Future Past.)

Still, the characters' core attributes are the same.

For example, Olsen's character "can do mind control. She can see into someone's deepest fears, and she can also manipulate energy," she said. "It's almost like she can create some sort of energy and use it to blast." As far as physical contact goes, Scarlet Witch doesn't have much to do. "I think my stunt double is really bored. I see her sometimes and I'm like, 'I'm so sorry, Olivia. I wish I was fighting, too.'"

Olsen said putting her costume on for the first time "felt really embowering" and that she hopes her character inspires a new legion of female fans. "She holds her own. But I don't really have any scenes with Black Widow [Scarlett Johansson], so it's nice that there's almost a consistent female presence throughout this film. We kind of split the screen time a bit. It's nice to play a female badass!"
