Taco Bell has officially come to Japan. Well, technically it's come back. The last locations of the fast-food chain pulled out of the country back in the 1980s, and it's been a long, hard wait for the people of Tokyo and beyond.
But now burritos, tacos and Chalupas are back with a vengeance and life is good again. What's more, people are really excited about the Taco Bell.
The first location just opened in what's basically the Tokyo equivalent of Times Square and people waited in line for hours just to get a taste of that Cheesy Gordita Crunch.
The first (and most eager) showed up at 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday and the queue continued long into the night. Seriously, just check this thing out:
Now before you go thinking that all these people are totally crazy and this is just Taco Bell, just know this: For starters, it's not just Taco Bell. And second, the Tokyo location carries a few delicacies that aren't available in the States, like shrimp and avocado burritos and something called taco rice.
The one caveat here? Menu items carry heavy price tags—the average dish is over $4. Womp, womp.
