Kelly Clarkson's Instagram may be full of fabulous photographs of her baby daughter, River Rose, but don't worry—she is most certainly not neglecting her husband behind the scenes.

"I always swore ours would not be a relationship where we have to schedule sex. That is never going to happen," the singer and Redbook's May cover girl told the magazine, dishing about life with hubby Brandon Blackstock after becoming a mom.

"We put each other first," she added, per an exclusive sneak peek at her interview and cover shoot (co-starring her gorgeous baby girl) obtained by E! News. "I call it the oxygen-mask mentality—take care of yourself first!"

And we're betting Blackstock appreciates that! But overall, what it sounds like is that practicality is the name of the game for the family of three. Clarkson has gushed plenty about how happy she is nowadays—a joy that really does radiate—but she also sounds firmly rooted in reality.

"Goodness, no!" she protested when asked if Blackstock is her "other half."

"He's a whole and I'm a whole," the "Heartbeat Song" artist explained. "I've never believed in someone taking care of me, and that's probably because I grew up poor and without a lot of family stability."

Having to learn at a young age how to fend for herself isn't the only reason why Clarkson has developed a thick skin over the years, either.

The 32-year-old Grammy winner has unfortunately had to deal with a fair share of snarky and sometimes outright mean comments about her weight, taking jabs from a host of basement-dwellers for not being a size-0.

"There are just some people who are born skinny and with a great metabolism—that is not me.  I wish I had a better metabolism," she admits. "But someone else probably wishes they could walk into a room and make friends with everyone like I can. You always want what someone else has."

"I don't obsess about my weight, which is probably one of the reasons why other people have such a problem with it," she added.

Perhaps she's hit upon why people can't just mind their own business, but Clarkson should also be content in the knowledge that but most people aren't going to be rocking Alice + Olivia on the cover of Redbook with their adorable daughters anytime soon, either.
