Reese's Peanut Butter Experiment

rustid/reddit

Don't you dare file this story under "Has Too Much Time on Their Hands." This goes under the file "Beloved Hero Doing the Lord's Work."

Reddit user Rustid decided to tackle an important question that has been plaguing humanity for decades: Which variety of Reese's peanut butter candy has the most peanut butter? And since scientists apparently think they have more important things to do than measure peanut butter to chocolate ratio, Rustid had to be the one to step up.

First, he rounded up nine different variations of Reese's:

•Peanut Butter Cups (large)
•Peanut Butter Cups: King Size (the best size)
•Peanut Butter Cups: Snack Size (not when you eat them five at a time)
•Peanut Butter Eggs (the best part of Easter)
•Peanut Butter Hearts (the best part of Valentine's Day)
•Small Heart (the second best part of Valentine's Day)
•Pumpkin (the best part of Halloween)
•Reese's Miniature (a personal favorite)
•Reese's Mini (to be eaten as a topping for the King Size cups)

His tools? A scalpel, a ruler and a scale. And with the precision of seasoned surgeon, he painstakingly removed the peanut butter from the chocolate. He then measured them all by weight of peanut butter and length of peanut butter filling. His results are shown in the graph below:

As you can see, the Reese's Peanut Butter Heart has the most peanut butter love, just barely edging out the Peanut Butter Egg. The small Peanut Butter Heart is the one most lacking on the PB front. You can check out more photos from his experiment on Imgur.

And what's he going to do with the leftover peanut butter he scraped out?

"I am going to use all this peanut butter with a bowl of Ice cream," he writes.

A man after our own heart.

"The chocolate is worst part," he captions underneath the photo of the dismantled candy.

Whoa. WHOA! That's a bold statement. We happen to prefer the parts of the Reese's candy that have equal parts chocolate and peanut butter. That's why we like the edges of the Peanut Butter Cups as opposed to the middle.

But we'll let that erroneous judgment slide because you spent so much time and energy on what is truly an important discovery that should go into textbooks and scientific journals immediately.
