Araya Diaz/WireImageKristen Stewart knows being a celebrity can result in a fair share of not-so-nice headlines.
But for the 24-year-old actress, the idea of escaping rumors and reports in the tabloids seems impossible no matter what she's working on in Hollywood.
"I've taken so much s--t that I'm just like, 'I'm not the winner!' I'm not gonna be let down when I don't get the pat on the back," she told The Hollywood Reporter. "I'm totally used to the kick in the ass."
Over the years, the Twilight star has simply learned to adapt to a business that doesn't appear to be changing anytime soon.
"It has taken serious adjusting time. There's just nothing that I can really do about that," she shared. "If you think about the source of it all, which is really the big, big, big green monster of cash, there's just no way that that's stopping."
She continued, "It's a new industry—celebrity news is a whole new form of entertainment—and it's a huge, booming, f--king money-making industry, so why would it stop? I love what I do and it's worth protecting. Hopefully, one day people's priorities will shift a little bit…unfortunately, onto somebody else."
In the meantime, Stewart is proud of her movie Clouds of Sils Maria that earned her an award from the 40th Cesar Awards, which some refer to as France's Oscars. It's a movie and story about the new face of fame that the actress is proud to share with the largest audience possible.
"Why aren't we [as a society] mentioning the fact that it's so crazy that there are so many people that are so full of it?" she asked when discussing the film's plot. "And why are we consuming them en masse?"
Through all of her experiences, Stewart finds herself in a good place professionally. In fact, she has her eyes on directing next.
"Truly, my 'one day' was always, 'I'm gonna be a director! One day, I'm gonna direct movies!'" she confessed. "I've never, ever been like, 'One day, I'm gonna win an Oscar.'"
She added, "I'm so satisfied and happy and absolutely looking forward to what's to come. I have a feeling that I'm gonna do this for a while—at least, being involved in this industry."
