Amanda Bynes

Amanda Bynes seems to be searching for a lot of things right now—and you can add a better brand of confidante to that list.

"I'm sorry I trusted people who clearly were not my friends and capitalized on my illness," the remorseful-sounding starlet said in a statement released to E! News Monday after audio recordings in which she wishes her parents dead leaked online.

"I am doing my best to get better. I am truly sorry for the statements I made. I am sorry for any pain I caused my family and others," Bynes, 28, continued. "I am thankful for everyone's patience and understanding. I never expected others to take advantage and profit from my condition. I'm disappointed with those who lulled me into a false sense of security only to find out they really are only interested in selling my privacy to the media."

Per TMZ, which posted the recordings, they were made by one of Bynes' West Hollywood roommates while they were driving.

"If your father were my father, exactly," one of two recordings begins. "Like, then you would understand why you'd want to slit his wrists and quite frankly, be like, be like, literally like, this is where I go stupid, like, I just want to like...I don't wnt to shoot my father in the face and that's why I said I want to, like, strip for him as a joke. I want to like, literally lead him into a ditch and...I haven't decided how I'd want to murder him, because now I have this war wound on my face, and I don't believe in murder...I look at him as a murderer person...nothing would give me greater pleasure than, like, slitting his throat. That's what I would love. So like I'm not gonna like ever do such a thing but like I call my mom and I like threaten to, like, kill her and I threaten to slit her wrist and I threaten to like burn down her house and, like, I said a bunch of s--t that like, quite frankly, I never felt better...I didn't think one unnatural thought..."

Bynes was released from an involuntary psychiatric hold late last month, right after her hospitalization had just been extended by 30 days, the judge in question determining that she didn't seem to pose a threat to herself or others following more than two weeks under observation. Mom Lynn had been re-appointed her daughter's personal conservator but she opted to remove herself shortly after Amanda's release.

Since then, Bynes has been tweeting up a storm and has been spotted exhibiting what could be deemed irregular behavior in public, napping on a couch at the Beverly Center mall in L.A. and popping in and out of clubs, hotels and restaurants.

She also tweeted Saturday after her threatening-sounding comments leaked, writing, "By the way - i was obviously joking about hurting my family - i straight up don't believe in harming a soul I said what I saidin jest & if you don't understand that then know I'm in therapy to talk about my dad issues and that will solve my concerns with ppl invading my private life."

Bynes then added: "when I said I want @drake to murder my vagina did anyone think I was asking him to actually murder my vagina. I think not so take what I say lightly because I am the nicest girl."

Just in case you'd forgotten about the tweet that seemingly launched a thousand weird headlines...

Meanwhile, the child star turned teen movie fave turned fashion student also used Twitter to give her own mental-health update earlier this month, a couple days before she was caught sleeping in the mall, writing, "I was diagnosed bi - polar and manic depressive so I'm on medication and I'm seeing my psychologist and pyshchiatrist weekly so I'm fine :D. I'm not living with my parents. I'm not legally obligated to. My lawyer said if I comply with the courts and take my meds and see my psychologist and pyshchiatrist weekly then I will get unconserved. Thank GOD."
