But, of course, it's a little easier the second time around so the 34-year-old pregnant star, who is expecting her second child, a baby girl, with her 41-year-old husband shared a few pieces of advice she's learned in the new issue of American Baby magazine as she continues to navigate the sometime difficult waters of motherhood.
As for her pregnancy tips? The brunette stunner, who has been impeccably dressing her belly throughout the course of her pregnancy, says you might not feel an instant bond with your bump—but it's nothing to stress over.
"While pregnant with my son, Camden, I felt guilty because everyone told me about this love I'd feel, and I wasn't there yet," she recalled to the mag. "I remember asking Nick, 'Is something wrong with me? I've wanted this my whole life, and I'm forcing myself to have those feelings.' For me, the love really flowed when I found out the baby was a boy. That's when I could finally bond, once I knew 'it' was a him."
The soon-to-be mother of two also advises against worrying, noting that the unnecessary stress is a waste of time. "Once Camden was born, certain fears calmed down," she reveals. "I no longer thought, 'Will I be able to do this?' My instincts really did kick in. We stumble and make mistakes, too, but that's what learning is. That's the beauty of it."
When it comes to parenting tips, the TV personality advises new moms and dads to be patient, although she admits it can be "hard" at times.
"As a baby, Camden would take about an hour to breastfeed," she says. "By the time he finished, it was almost time to feed again. A friend reminded me that infants are learning everything for the first time. So who am I to say, 'Hurry up and eat. We have to go?' I tried to look at that time as an opportunity to love on him."
And last but not least she warns new parents to be wary of comparing themselves to others.
"With social media, people share mostly their best moments," she explains. "Don't feel like you're not doing enough when you see a mom posting about making applesauce after you bought it. Ha ha! It's fine! Just for raising a little human being you should be commended."
Props to Nick and Vanessa for always putting their best parenting foot forward! Can't wait to meet the little one.
