The Sesame Street theme song is getting a new twist! On Tuesday's episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live!, actor Christoph Waltz performed the song in the darkest way possible.

Waltz is known for his theatrical performances. From Inglourious Basterds to Django Unchained, he never fails to bring the intensity. So, it comes as no surprise that he did just that while on the talk show.

The Muppets Most Wanted actor confessed to Kimmel that he still watches the popular children's show. He also said he found it important that his kids watched it, saying, "I forced my kids to watch it because I thought they need to be Americanized in time, and they were, and I mean in all seriousness I actually admired and loved it and the kids just loved it."

Jokingly, Waltz described the show as "fresh, raw, full of despair, poignant and deep." This, of course, prompted Kimmel to ask if they were talking about the same show. The actor responded by saying, "the theme song alone, it haunts me."

To prove his love for Big Bird and Cookie Monster, Waltz got up and delivered the entire theme song. Backed by dramatic piano chords, the actor got all teary and whispery as he dramatically sang the show opening.

"Sunny day, sweeping the clouds away" he wailed intensely. "Can you tell me how to get to Sesame Street?," he cried over and over. After the father of three concluded his version of the song, Kimmel comforted him with a hug.

Waltz was on the show to promote his new film Horrible Bosses 2 with Jennifer Aniston, Chris Pine, Jason Bateman and Kevin Spacey

Horrible Bosses 2 hits theaters Nov. 26.
