Fact: Few things in life are better than the perfect pair of jeans. Because denim is a go-to staple in practically everyone's closet, and a gal's got to have a few reliable pairs that are flattering, well-cut and always in-season. And for that perfect pair, look no further than Schoen by Yu.

Boasting A-list clientele like Victoria Beckham and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley as regulars, the lux label is the ideal brand for a good denim investment. We caught up with Schoen by Yu's creative director Michelle Yu on everything from her first job to what her typical day in the office is like. So what are you waiting for? Read on to find out what she said!

E!

What was your very first job?
Stuffing envelopes for my family's start-up. Needless to say, it was unpaid.

Who are some of your career heroes?
Coco Chanel
for being a fashion pioneer by infusing menswear into womenswear. Phoebe Philo because her designs throughout the years never get stagnant. Steve Jobs for standing by quality and innovation even when everyone told him his products would not succeed in the marketplace.

What's a typical workday like for you?
Unpredictable. But when it rains, it pours.

Describe your office décor. What was your inspiration?
Simple, minimalist and modern. White and black with gold accents. I was inspired by Scandinavian interior design with a touch of glamour.

List five things that are on your desk right now.
IPhone, measuring tape, safety pins, baby wipes and a bottle of water.

What do you typically wear to work?
Generally a lot of black and neutrals, although I try to embrace color in the spring and summer. I wear whatever catches my mood that morning.

What are your favorite stores to shop for work clothes?
I prefer shopping boutiques in Paris. I don't specifically look for brands when I shop.  It just has to be an interesting piece, fit perfectly, with quality fabric and sewing.  I've been told that I am a difficult shopper.

What's the best piece of career advice you've ever received?
I tend to overanalyze and second-guess myself a lot. So the best advice was from my husband. "Follow your gut."
