Did Aretha Franklin Just Throw Shade at Taylor Swift and Nicki Minaj?

Swifties might not want to hear what the Queen of Soul has to say about their favorite singer

Aretha Franklin may have just thrown some serious shade at your favorite singers!

The Queen of Soul stopped by the Wall Street Journal last week to discuss her new album, Aretha Franklin Sings the Great Diva Classics.

While celebrating the disc's success, the 72-year-old couldn't help but sound off on a few younger divas in the industry.

When Nicki Minaj's name was brought up (around 3:53 mark), Franklin didn't have many nice things to say. She simply replied, "Hmmm. I'm going to pass on that one."

Ouch!

But what was much more surprising was her lack of compliments for the one and only Taylor Swift.

When asked to say a few words about the "Blank Space" singer, Franklin replied, "Great gowns, beautiful gowns."

Gowns?! Just gowns?! We know, Swifties. She could have said so much more.

What about those impressive 1989 album sales that topped 1.2 million?  Maybe she could have mentioned her ability to tackle both country and pop music perfectly? We could go on and on.

It also didn't help that the "RESPECT" singer had much nicer things to say about the two women before Swift.

When asked about Adele, Franklin shared "good singer." In regards to Alicia Keys? "Young performer, good writer, producer."

Regardless of one person's opinion, chances are Swift won't be too upset with the news. In fact, she's probably just going to "Shake it Off."
