Fashion Designer Stéphane Rolland Dishes on Kim Kardashian and Kanye West

We sat down with the renowned designer

French fashion designer Stéphane Rolland is known for his impeccable design and refined aesthetic. And he's also known for having two very famous fans of his work: Kim Kardashian and Kanye West.

Kim and Kanye are front row fixtures at his fashion shows, and so when we had the chance to visit him in his Paris showroom for a tour and exclusive interview, of course we immediately said "oui!"

Stéphane has styled Kim multiple times and she makes it a priority to see his runway shows, so clearly they're very close. "I think sometimes people have a vision of her, and it's not the reality," said Stéphane of Kim. "When I met her for the first time I just fell in love with her personality, so it was easy for me to dress her." 

As for Kanye, Stéphane also has much respect for his artistry. "When I met Kanye I think we immediately understood each other," said Stéphane. "One day he came to me and asked if we could talk in my showroom, and we discussed for hours. He wanted to have my opinion, and I can't reveal, but it was very interesting." 

We asked if Stéphane has experienced a surge in brand recognition after Kim started wearing his designs, a la the Kate Middleton effect, and he said yes. "I have had a Kim effect, of course!" 

And now the question we've all been waiting for: What will Kim wear on her big day? Stéphane weighed in! "I think she is going to be for sure romantic…It depends on who will be the designer. They are friends with Riccardo Tisci [of Givenchy]…so I would not be surprised if he is doing the dress."

Stéphane also had thoughts on what Kanye might wear. "I would appreciate to see him very elegant, like a long grey or black jacket," said the designer. "Very French and English-inspired. And not with a bow, but with a tie."

And of course we had to ask, is Stéphane going to the wedding? "Well, if I am invited, I will go. I know they want a very private event," he said.

He also revealed that he plans on designing something for North after he meets her for the first time. "I prefer to see the baby first, and after I will," he said. So sweet!
