If you thought New York City living was all about small spaces and cramped quarters, then you've never seen Bette Midler's setup.

The legendary entertainer calls Manhattan home, and she lives in a gorgeous Fifth Avenue penthouse with her husband Martin von Haselberg. Her apartment is featured in Architectural Digest's June 2014 issue, and when we got one look at her pad, our jaws dropped.

We always knew Bette was a talented actress and singer, but we didn't know she had such an eye for interior design. Bette explains in the magazine that her mother was a seamstress, and so she's always had a love for textiles.

Bette also founded the New York Restoration Project, which focuses on revitalizing parks and gardens in the city. So, it's no surprise that her home comes complete with a lush garden.

One look at her place, and you'd never know that it's deep in the heart of New York City. So many NYC dwellings are tiny and dark, but Bette's home is light, bright and airy. "People suffer from the lack of light in this town," said the actress. "There aren't enough windows!"

Bette's penthouse has plenty of windows, not to mention 3,100 square feet of space and twelve rooms. Even if the view from this apartment was a brick wall, we'd still be in love with it. But, no, the view overlooking Central Park's reservoir is completely breathtaking.

Basically to sum it all up: Bette's got some really sweet digs. For even more, pick up the June issue of Architectural Digest on newsstands now.
