It was the best of birthdays for newly engaged George Clooney, who rang in the big 5-3 with his fiancée by his side.

The couple jetted off to Cabo San Lucas in advance of the wedding of Clooney's close pals Thom Mathews and Karla Jensen.

While the wedding is May 10, the A-list stud arrived 10 days early on a private jet with Thom, Amal and Benjamin Weiss. The group has been at Clooney's home at El Dorado, although they have yet to be spotted by the pesky paps.

This isn't the first time the lovebirds have been to Cabo together. They previously visited Clooney's famed vacation home during the holiday's last year with pals Rande Gerber and Cindy Crawford.

Last month, Clooney popped the question to the beautiful human rights lawyer and presented Amal with a stunning seven-carat diamond ring—reportedly over a home-cooked meal—after just seven months of dating.

The couple later celebrated the happy news while dining at Malibu restaurant Nobu with Cindy Crawford and her husband Rande Gerber just two days later. In the middle of dinner that evening, the couple told pal Edward Norton "We're engaged!" when he approached their table, and the actor went on to congratulate them with kisses.

While the couple has yet to open up about their engagement, the brunette beauty has earned the stamp of approval from George's family; his mother and father have both sung Amal's praises.

"We are very pleased," Clooney's father, veteran broadcaster Nick Clooney, told E! News. "We like Amal and we are very excited for our family and thrilled for them."

"They are both wonderful people and hope they have a terrific life ahead of them," the elder Clooney continued. "This is their day. This is George and Amal's time."

To which we say: Happy birthday, George! It's bound to be a memorable one.
