Tragedy has befallen the Alaska State Troopers.

Two officers who appeared on the National Geographic Channel series of the same name were killed in the line of duty yesterday, fatally shot while investigating a report of a man brandishing a gun in the village of Tanana, according to information released by the AST's public information office.

Trooper Gabriel "Gabe" Rich and Sgt. Patrick "Scott" Johnson were not filming at the time.
