Neon Trees' Tyler Glenn has opened up about coming out as gay.

A month after sharing the news publicly by way of a Rolling Stone interview, the singer appeared on Thursday's Chelsea Lately to talk about his recent revelation.

"I told my family, obviously, before the issue," the 30-year-old musician shared with host Chelsea Handler. "I didn't want them opening Rolling Stone and saying, 'Oops, what did we do wrong?'"

Glenn, who was raised Mormon, also shared that he has heard from church leaders "and they've actually been very supportive" of his sexuality.

"It's actually, like, the gay atheists that I've heard more from, like, flak, which is uncomfortable," he said. "They don't like the Mormon thing."

As for the kind of man Glenn is attracted to, he admitted, "I definitely have a deep dark secret. The type of guy I like is very dark."

Following the Rolling Stone piece, Glenn received many messages of support online.

"I'm the happiest lil weirdo i've been in my whole entire life. Thank you for the support and love," he tweeted at the time. "Yes. I am a happy and healthy Mormon gay pop star. I don't know what it all means, but I'm ok with it."

Glenn later explained why he decided to come out via the iconic magazine in a lengthy Facebook post.

Meanwhile, his band Neon Trees released its third album, Pop Psychology, last month.
