During the "Hot Topics" portion of The View on Tuesday, Jan. 14, Shia LaBeouf's response to the funnyman's Golden Globes diss came up.
If you recall, while onstage presenting at Sunday's award show, Carrey took a playful swipe at LaBeouf's recent admission that he had plagiarized one of author Daniel Clowes' graphic novels for his short film HowardCantour.com.
The comedian quoted, "Dying is easy. Comedy is hard...I believe it was Shia LaBeouf who said that."
LaBeouf subsequently took to Twitter and posted a YouTube video of Carrey's daughter's band, The Jane Carrey Band, and called the Dumb and Dumber actor out for his parenting skills.
"At least I don't get arrested for indecency on major LA highways! Or abandon love child's," he wrote.
LaBeouf later changed his tune and typed out an apology. "Jim Carrey states that he is deeply involved in his daughter's life—I accept that. Regret tweet on the matter. Apologies to both parents."
Cut to this morning's The View, where McCarthy expressed her outrage over what LaBeouf had said.
"You can attack myself, but don't bring my children into it. And I'm sure it's the same for Jim," she commented.
McCarthy continued, "Jim and I have become friends now since our breakup. We dated for five years and I got to know his daughter, Jane, who is a lovely, lovely girl. It's completely uncalled for and wrong. Jim is a great father. He loves Jane more than anything in the world. Shia did apologize and Jim did take it, but the whole thing is, do not bring our children into it."
So far, no response on Twitter from LaBeouf. Not yet, at least.
