Michael Douglas won't have Catherine Zeta-Jones on his arm tonight at the Golden Globes.

"She's back east with the kids," Douglas, who is nominated for a Golden Globe for his incredible work as the late entertainer Liberace in HBO's Behind the Candelabra, told me last night at Sean Penn's J/P HRO benefit at the Montage in Beverly Hills.

But don't take Zeta-Jones' absence as a sign there's more trouble between the two. "All is good," Douglas said. "All is good."

The couple, who announced they had separated in August, spent the Christmas and New Year holidays with their children, Dylan, 13, and Carys, 10, at their apartment in New York City, their country home in Bedford, NY, and skiing in Canada.

He even shared family pics from the recent ski trip on his Facebook page. "Happy New Year from Quebec, Canada... where it is minus 10F," he wrote with a photo of everyone bundled up in their ski gear. "One more Happy New Year picture from Quebec, Canada."

The 69-year-old actor has spoken out on his marital situation numerous times, telling fans that he and Zeta-Jones, 43, aren't giving up so easily.

"I hope to resolve my marriage in a positive fashion," Douglas said in December's GQ. On The Tonight Show With Jay Leno on Oct. 21, Douglas also said. "Sometimes people take a little bit of a break, but it doesn't necessarily mean that's the end. I'm very hopeful."

Zeta-Jones wasn't with Douglas when he won an Emmy in September for Candelabra, but he thanked her in his acceptance speech.

Douglas, who was wearing his wedding band last night, and Zeta-Jones tied the knot in 2000 in a fairy tale wedding at Manhattan's Plaza Hotel.
