While Charlie Hunnam may still be facing some backlash after his controversial casting as Christian Grey, Daniel Radcliffe is more than happy to let the Sons of Anarchy star take on the raunchy role.
"I literally had someone say to me for the first time today, 'The world's in uproar you're not playing Christian Grey,'" the former Harry Potter star confessed to MTV News at the Toronto Film Festival. "And I'm like 'If this is uproar, it's inaudible.'"
After Hunnam and Dakota Johnson (who will play Anastasia Steele) were cast in the lead roles for highly-anticipated film adaptation of E.L. James' erotic thriller Fifty Shades of Grey, with some even starting an online petition to have Matt Bomer and Alexis Bledel recast in the starring roles.
"I think there was approximately no people wanting me to play Christian Grey, including myself," Radcliffe continued. "I have to say, no offense to anybody, I'm sure they're going to do a great job on the movie, but it's not something that I think of would have been a good next step for me."
It turns out the Radcliffe casting rumors started after Maurie Sherman of KiSS 92.5 radio in Toronto joked with him that Fifty Shades fans weren't happy that he wasn't cast as the kink-loving Grey.
Fifty Shades producer Dana Brunetti recently defended hiring Hunnam and Johnson for the film adaption of James' book trilogy.
"There is a lot that goes into casting that isn't just looks. Talent, availability, their desire to do it, chemistry with other actor, etc.," he tweeted last week. "So if your favorite wasn't cast, then it is most likely due to something on that list. Keep that in mind while hating and keep perspective."
