Steve Carell is getting into character—literally.

The 50-year-old actor appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show earlier today to promote his new animated flick Despicable Me 2.

The former Office star showed up on set dressed as Gru, his character from the film. The funnyman had on a full zip-up suit that covered his neck, a scarf, and completed his costume with a bald cap and prosthetic nose. He stayed in character during the entire show, even channeling his Gru accent during the interview.

"It's so good to be here," Carell dished to DeGeneres. "I've never been on television. What a crowd!"

Carell also joked to the talk show host that he'd never met her or been to L.A. before, except for, "The one time I stood behind you in line at the Starbucks," before breaking into dance with the audience.

Can't wait to watch Carell's alter-ego in action when the flick hits theater Jul. 3!
