To those who never forgave Hugh, this should've happened five years ago.

British sensitive-guy-actor Hugh Grant and his longtime model-actress gal-pal Elizabeth Hurley are splitting up...temporarily, at least.

Their publicist released a statement today saying the split was a joint decision, and that Grant, 39, and Hurley, 34, will continue to work together professionally through their production company, Simian Films.

The couple have been together for 13 years.

"It is a temporary thing. It is a mutual and amicable decision," the pair's publicist said in a statement. "They are continuing to run Simian Films together and would like to stress that there are no third parties involved."

Of course, it was a rather infamous third party that first brought their relationship into the spotlight. Grant pleaded no contest in 1995 to lewd conduct, after he was arrested in a car in Los Angeles with prostitute Divine Brown.

The Notting Hill star promptly spilled his guts about the tryst on The Tonight Show, and the couple reportedly managed to patch things up. Now, however, their publicist says Grant is in Britain, while Hurley, the shagelicious Austin Powers costar and face of Estée Lauder cosmetics, is in New York.

The duo founded Simian Films in a partnership with Castle Rock Entertainment in 1994. As head of development, Hurley produced 1996's Extreme Measures, starring her boyfriend and Gene Hackman.

Meanwhile, Grant can currently be seen doing his thing (acting, that is) in Woody Allen's new comedy, Small Time Crooks.
