Icon Films There is a lot—we repeat, a lot—of sex, drugs, drinking and dancing in the upcoming movie adaptation of On The Road.
As we've previously reported, Kristen Stewart engages in all sorts of naughty behavior with her costars Garrett Hedlund, Sam Riley and Tom Sturridge.
And you can see snippets of some of the merriment in a new trailer for the indie (in theaters on Dec. 21) released earlier today on iTunes. K.Stew is shown inviting Riley into her and Hedlund's bed. We see her smile as all three sit naked in the front seat of a car.
And if the actors and extras look wasted, it's for good reason. No, not because they were actually drinking and drugging, but director Walter Salles made sure to rev them up with multiple takes.
For instance, one party scene in Mexico shows Hedlund and Riley out of their minds as they trip with a bevy of beautiful locals.
"They cut together a 10-minute song to dance to," Hedlund recently told me. "Walter probably wouldn't use any of the footage until you're doing it for the third time.
"They probably weren't even rolling the cameras on the first two takes," he continued. "But once the sweat was pouring out profusely and once your exhaustion was heightened, that's the stuff that we felt was most similar to what's in the book," he said.
And if that didn't work, Salles reminded Hedlund of just how long they had been working to get the project off the ground.
"Right before we started that day, Walter came up and whispered in my ear, 'Come on, man—four f--king years,'" Hedlund remembered.
