Chloë Grace Moretz has watched the 1976 classic horror film Carrie.

But it's not because the 15-year-old actress is starring in an updated version directed by Kimberly Peirce

"I'm not watching it in preparation for the movie because we're doing something totally different and I'm trying to bring my own take into it," Moretz told me last night at the Women in Film Crystal + Lucy Awards at the Beverly Hilton, where she was honored with the Max Mara Face of the Future Award.

"It's very different," she continued. "Kimberly really put her hand into it and it's like this dark Black Swan version. You're going to be psychologically manipulated."

Shooting begins next week with Julianne Moore costarring as Carrie's crazy Bible-thumping mother. "It will be scary but at the end of the day it's going to be an amazing psychological thriller," Moretz said.

But of course, no take on Carrie would be complete without its iconic blood scene during the prom.

"I'm a little nervous," Moretz admitted. "But we're doing a lot of special effects to make the blood not too sticky."

Rounding out the new Carrie cast are The Descendants' Judy Greer and Smash star Megan Hilty.

Moretz was most recently seen in Dark Shadows with Johnny Depp and Michelle Pfeiffer.
