Top Army brass at Fort Knox have canceled an upcoming performance by outspoken rocker Ted Nugent following controversial comments he made about President Barack Obama, according to a statement posted the base's Facebook page.

It's the latest setback for the embattled musician, who also recently faced a Secret Service probe and has pleaded guilty to transporting a black bear that he illegally killed during an Alaskan hunting trip.

In its statement, Fort Knox said, "After learning of opening act Ted Nugent's recent public comments about the president of the United States, Fort Knox leadership decided to cancel his performance on the installation."

The June 23 show is being headlined by REO Speedwagon and Styx, who remain scheduled to perform. A search for Nugent's replacement is under way.

"Army Entertainment and the Fort Knox Directorate of Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation remain committed to carrying out the June 23 concert, and the possibility exists that a replacement will be selected," the statement said.

Nugent stirred up controversy two weeks ago when he appeared at a National Rifle Association convention and encouraged attendees to rally against Obama's camp and "chop their heads off." He also claimed that he will "either be dead or in jail" if the president is reelected.
