Whitney Houston may be gone, but fans can still look forward to her final big-screen performance.

A full trailer for Sparkle—a remake of the 1976 movie of the same name in which the music legend stars and acted as executive producer—is now in the wild.

The period musical follows singer Sparkle Williams (Jordin Sparks) and her two sisters (Carmen Ejojo and Tika Sumpter), who rise to fame after forming a Harlem-based girl group, only to deal with fallout from drug addiction.

Houston plays the trio's mother and, much to the delight of her fans, has a number in the movie and contributed new music to its soundtrack.  The "So Emotional" singer wrapped filming on the role three months before she died on Feb. 11 from accidental drowning and the effects of atherosclerotic heart disease and cocaine use.

Sparkle, which also costars Cee-Lo Green and Mike Epps, hits theaters Aug. 17, but let us know your thoughts on the trailer in the comments section.
