Ladies and gents, we are less than one week away from the Emmys, and it's high time we start making our predictions for who and what will walk away with glorious Emmy gold.
Of course, who should win and who will win are often very different choices. We already gave you our list of Emmy nominations that we were happily surprised about, but do we think those same shows and people will take home the trophy on Sunday? Today, we tackle the biggies: Best Drama and Best Comedy. Check out our predictions, and then vote in our 2011 Emmy Forecast poll…
Who Should Win: Friday Night Lights. Are you surprised by our pick? If you are, you must not read WWK that much. Better bookmark us, because we are fun. Anyway, it's no secret we've adored FNL for years, and we were so happy to see them get some Emmy love this year. It's been long overdue that the academy recognizes this consistently amazing show. This is the last year it can be nominated, and it deserves a true send-off. We usually don't like to hand out Emmy picks just because a show is ending, but in this case, FNL more than deserves it. Its final season was perfection, and the finale? Don't make us talk about it or we'll cry.
Who Will Win: Mad Men. AMC's golden goose is an Emmy darling, and this year should be no different, especially with the past season being so deliciously intriguing. It's hard to stop the Mad Men train once it leaves the station. Games of Thrones is just too genre-specific to get the majority vote. And The Good Wife, while great television, will probably fall to Mad Men. What can we say…the voters love that show.
Who Should Win: Parks and Recreation. The third season of NBC's look at middle America was hilarious, week after week after week. It seemed to get stronger with each episode, and the addition of Adam Scott and Rob Lowe brought PRex to the top of our comedy must-watch list. Great writing, an ensemble cast packed full of comedic talent, and Amy Poehler front and center? PRex has all the makings for an Emmy-winning show.
Who Will Win: Modern Family. We love this show, too, so we're not mad about them taking home the gold. Glee had a shaky second season, and Modern Family came off its win last year with a solid second season. Sure, 30 Rock also has a good chance, but the academy eats Modern Family up for dinner, and for dessert, it will serve up a repeat triumph.
Your turn! Who do you guys think will be the winning shows in the big categories this year? Cast your vote below, and be sure to come back tomorrow for more Emmy predictions!
