Black Eyed Peas Raise $1.3 Million for Josh Duhamel's Flood Benefit

Fergie and the gang do some good to aid relief and rebuilding efforts in her hubby's North Dakota hometown

They pumped it full of much-needed cash.

The Black Eyed Peas put on a rockin' benefit concert Saturday for Transformers star Josh Duhamel's flood-ravaged hometown of Minot, N.D., raising a whopping $1.3 million for relief and rebuilding efforts.

Talk about getting it started.

Per Fargo's Valleynewslive.com, the Peas' show helped fill the coffers of the Minot Area Recovery Fund, of which Duhamel is the honorary chairman and the key organizer of the event. He was able to snag the band given that he's married to lead singer Fergie.

"A HUGE thank you to @iamwill, @TabBep, @apl_de & #Fergie for their incredible act of kindness for doing #MinotRising. North Dakota loves you," raved Duhamel on Twitter Sunday after the performance.

To which the Peas' principal rapper and producer, will.i.am, tweeted back: "@joshduhamel i.am proud to support #MinotRising...this is what its all about...'Americans helping americans' one neighborhood United States."

He went on to commend the Hollywood actor for his dedication to helping some 11,000 forced out of their homes by rising waters in June.

"Thank you for you passion, determination, and vision to do good, and ability to bring people together for a good cause," will.i.am added.

The gig came together in less than five short weeks and drew a capacity crowd of nearly 16,000 fans, breaking the previous attendance record held by KISS. Their presence not only supported Minot's recovery through ticket sales, but it also gave a boost to the devastated local economy via merchandise sales and other associated fundraisers.

Well done, guys, well done.
