All she wanted to do was utilize the competitive bidding process!

In an attempt to give "prospective buyers all over the world" a chance to know about the property, a very famous single mom on these shores put her 150-acre equestrian estate, complete with 10,264-square-foot mansion, up for auction.

But even though the fully functioning "solar farm" will save some lucky homeowner upward of $4,000 a year in energy costs, apparently this economy doesn't scream "14-stall barn, recording studio, three-bedroom guest house and nanny quarters!"

Whose house is now off the auction block after bidders failed to meet the reserve amount?

Sheryl Crow

It's Sheryl Crow who hasn't found a buyer yet for Cross Creek Farm, a massive piece of land in College Grove, Tenn.

But the mother of two adopted sons has no reason to fret yet. The auction was announced on Oct. 20, meaning she hasn't really ventured into the unwanted-mansion territory occupied by fellow songbirds Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera.

If she chooses to list the house in a more traditional manner, Crow's nest has plenty of selling points, among them five bedrooms and seven bathrooms, a salt-water pool and spa, gated entry, a theater, an indoor riding arena, a six-car garage and that very chic solar-energy system.

Alas, the aquarium that's currently built into the kitchen swims away with the seller.
