So Mischa Barton had an awkward interview on The View earlier, for all intents and purposes confirming our original story of her being admitted for suicidal behavior.
Mischa was just on the still-fab babe chat show discussing her hospitalization in the psychiatric ward a couple of months ago, and she's still ridiculously sticking to the "I had bad wisdom teeth surgery" story. We were told by top Barton insiders back then that advisors were begging her not to put the "dental story" out as the reason she was admitted to the mental ward, but apparently Mischa decided otherwise—and it obviously created even more of a stir, as expected.
"I'm so fine now, but it was really just a bad time for me," Mischa spilled. "It was sort of one of those things that was like a perfect storm. Everything happened at once."
Stress buildup, among other things, can definitely mark the beginning of a mental breakdown. Not bad teeth. Good thing Barbara Walters was thinking the same way:
Barb, who is still supersharp, pointed out that Barton was in the psychiatric ward and "not just the regular hospital."
"Right, I mean, it was just...I was overwhelmed," stumbled M.B. as she continued to go off on that terrible dry-socket wisdom teeth stuff.
"When they take you into the hospital for something when it goes really wrong, if you're having a meltdown and you say something like 'I feel like I want to die,' they start injecting you with things to calm down. Like, I'm petrified of needles. Like, absolutely petrified."
Call us crazy (no pun intended, really), but isn't throwing suicidal remarks around when you're in the hospital kind of a dumb move? And it was just because of needle fear, now? Jeez, I have that too. So do tons of folks. Ya think there might be more to this story? Yep.
We checked back with our original source who still swears M.B. was in a "very dark place," and that it was hardly brought on by surgery gone wrong. "She was talking about killing herself," they reconfirmed.
Either way, we're just glad M.B. is supposedly back on the sober road, 'cause Misch claims she has been "very healthy" since then. Hope you stay that way GF! And shut up about it already! (Always the best way to go.)
