Live from New York, it's two people you've never heard of. But who may just be the next Tina Fey and Amy Poehler.

Lorne Michaels has reportedly fixed his talent-seeking gaze on Jenny Slate and Nasim Pedrad, signing the comedians up as his show's newest cast members when Saturday Night Live kicks off its 35th season Sept. 26.

NBC, which tends to be rather slow to confirm these sorts of things (just ask Megan Fox), has so far not commented on the new hires, whose casting was broken earlier this week by The Comic's Comic.

As it is, both funny ladies bring with them the usual improv comic pedigree expected of SNL's talent stable: Slate is an alum of the Upright Citizens' Brigade, appeared in a recent Verizon TV ad and featured as SNL alum Jimmy Fallon's assistant in his "reality"-show-within-a-talk-show, 7th Floor West.

As for Pedrad, she too hails from SNL's de facto feeder school UCB, appeared in several episodes of ER (the Peacock clearly likes to keep it in the family) and has most recently been a regular at The Groundlings.

OK, they've got the credentials. But can they rap about shooting a moose?
