Elizabeth Banks as a would-be conniving murderess opposite Russell Crowe? If the latter's in shape, we'll buy that pairing!

The Zach and Miri Make a Porno star is in final negotiations to steam up the big screen with the State of Play thesp in Paul Haggis' upcoming drama, The Next Three Days.

Per the Hollywood Reporter, the film is based on the 2008 French thriller Pour elle about a wife (Banks) who's arrested and convicted for a murder she claims she didn't commit and her husband (Crowe) sets out on a desperate mission to save her.

Haggis, the Oscar-winning triple threat behind 2004's Crash, will write, direct and produce Days through his Highway 61 Films shingle. Lensing starts next month.
