Heard the One About Zac and Vanessa Being Engaged?

Vanessa Hudgens' rep denies British tabloid report that she and Zac Efron will be heading down the aisle

Tweens, put down your pitchforks and back away slowly: Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens are not—we repeat not—engaged.

So you can stop boycotting Bandslam now.

Hudgens seemed to hint (in a very much taken-out-of-context quote) in Britain's News of the World over the weekend that she and her High School sweetheart would soon be walking down the aisle. The betrothal report even found its way into the vaunted pages of the Washington Post. But rest assured the report is false.

"Not true," Hudgens' rep tells E! News.

Phew.

But that doesn't mean the twosome isn't still very much together…and socializing, no less, with another pair of lovey-dovey costars who also seem to be no match for the rumor mill.

We speak, of course, of Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart.

While socializing may be too strong a word, both Zanessa and Robsten turned up at the now-infamous Kings of Leon concert in Vancouver Saturday night. Pattinson and Stewart attended the gig with their Eclipse castmates, while Efron and Hudgens escorted Zac's little bro to the show. The actor is in town filming his new movie, The Death and Life of Charlie St. Cloud.

As for the so-called engagement, Hudgens was likely responding to a hypothetically-posed question about the state of her relationship when she said (or if she said) the following:

"We haven't set a date and if we did we'd keep it secret for as long as possible. Why? What if one of us was offered a major film part? Then we'd have to postpone our marriage and people would say we'd split up. And we don't want that."

Heavens, no.

Of course, we also wouldn't want her resurfacing nude photo scandal to continue to dominate the headlines and this little non sequitur seems to have effectively bumped that story off the web. So, maybe not such a bad rumor after all.
