Take the crew from Armageddon and drop it into a plot that crosses Aliens with Leviathan, and you'd have a pretty good idea of the paranormal bloodshed to come. A nasty alien, in the form of an--ahem--intelligent lightning bolt, hits the Mir space station and then downloads itself to Earth via Pacula's keyboard. You'd think it'd be grateful for the use of her modem, but instead it kills everyone aboard her research boat.
The crew of a sinking tugboat nearby tries to save itself by boarding the abandoned ship. Bad move. Besides the bloodthirsty E.T., tugboat navigator Curtis must deal with something even worse: lousy acting from her fellow cast members. Sutherland, as the greedy captain, is the ham du jour. There's lots of swell robotics and special effects to distract the eye, but it's not enough to save this film from the watery drink.
