There is an echo in here, and it keeps repeating: "This movie is just like The Sixth Sense...This movie is just like The Sixth Sense." In this dark ghost story Bacon, whose son (Cope) is able to see and talk to dead people, learns the trait runs in the family after getting hypnotized at a party. Echoes tries to outdo Sense by introducing a predicting-the-future strand, but unfortunately, audiences will be about 10 minutes ahead of Bacon in his quest to solve the case of a missing girl.
Bacon, however, does fine as a working stiff trying to get a grip on his power while also retaining his marbles. With its jumpy, manipulative shocks, the movie would be a hit in any other year, but coming on the heels of Sense, these Echoes are faint at best.
