The soundtrack to this film about an all-girl prison rock band on the lam is the bestselling CD in German history. And that's what's wrong with the movie: It's more a rock video than a film. The Thelma and Louise narrative about four angry outlaws not taking guff from men is the slight peg on which director von Garnier hangs a succession of tuneful shots in MTV mode.
After each number, the gals are too busy becoming folk heroes and dodging the police to materialize into flesh and blood characters. After a while, you'll feel like you're doing hard time in your theater seat.
