Bruce Willis makes a thought-provoking suspenseful movie...and there's not a gun in sight! Hoping to help a troubled child who unwillingly possesses supernatural powers, Willis, as a child psychologist, must learn to deal with his own relationships, which ultimately make the ending a real stunner. Things move a little slowly at first--and the writing and direction (both by Shyamalan) are in drastic need of originality--but just as we're led to believe the plot is going nowhere, the suspense meter moves up a notch or two.
Osment and his onscreen mom, Collette, both deliver credible performances. And who thought Bruno could be so good again in an emotionally touching role? Now that's really scary!
