It's hard to draw good movies from cyberpunk author William Gibson's work--Johnny Mnemonic, anyone? And Ferrara, an indulgent director, lets this one careen all over the place. This film about two industrial spies, Walken and Dafoe, is simultaneously puzzling, boring and as eccentric as its two stars would suggest. (And in true movie style, Argento is the brainy--and sexy--geneticist the pair sets out to woo.
) This film could find a second life as a midnight movie, as it boasts a great alternate/indie-cinema team who match each other twitch for sexy-psycho twitch.
