Spice Girls fans have something to be grateful for this holiday season.
Earlier this year, Melanie "Scary Spice" Brown, Geri "Ginger Spice" Halliwell and Emma "Baby Spice" Bunton revealed that they'd decided to give fans what they've always asked for—a reunion! With a twist, of course.
The three original ladies from the group opted to form their own spinoff trio called GEM, based off of their initials, and while not much has transpired from the big news since it was announced, we now found ourselves in the midst of what may be their first single!
Audio of a track titled "Song for Her" hit the Internet earlier today, sparking speculation across the worldwide web as to whether or not we were hearing the debut single from the new group. Neither of the ladies have confirmed or denied the fact on social media.
If it is indeed their first single, it will surely resonate with fans who were hoping for some Spice Girls nostalgia (unless you were hoping for a crazy, energetic dance song, because this is not that). But, the beat will definitely have you head-bobbing and swaying while singling about regaining your girl power, and really, what else could we ask for?
It seems to also touch on a more personal note for the former pop queens, who have been away from the limelight for some time now. Lyrics hint at the thought of finding the young woman they used to know after so many years of living a different life.
"Where is that girl, is she long gone missing? / Can't bring her back, but it's just reminiscing / There in the mirror, she's shouting ‘I've been here forever,'" they sing.
