Ever wondered how your favorite weatherman lives? Now you can see!
Al Roker and wife Deborah Roberts opened their gorgeous brownstone to Closer Weekly and gave the magazine a look at their bright dining room, backyard and kitchen. Having grown up in NYC, the Today show co-anchor always dreamed of living in a brownstone.
"He used to talk about them when we were dating," Roberts tells Closer.
"I saw them on The Cosby Show and across from my high school," adds Al, 62. "I always thought that was real ‘New York living' and a nice thing to have in the city."
But his wife of 21 years felt differently about them. "I'm more of an apartment-with-a-doorman girl," she explains.
"On Park Avenue," Roker chimes in.
"Or Fifth!" Roberts adds.
This couple dreamed big for a long time, and they made their dreams come true. Even Roberts couldn't deny the beauty of the house they had found. "I was like, 'OK, all right,'" Deborah recalls of first touring their future house. "He kind of had me at 'hello' with this one."
Like any home purchase, however, there were some changes to be made. "We wanted a bigger kitchen because Al loves to cook, and the basement was just a cement dungeon," Roberts says.
The TV couple also reveals they put three (!) grills in the backyard. "Al's the grill master!" the ABC News correspondent says.
As can be seen in the photos, the dining room is classically decorated with cherrywood furniture. The living room features wood floors with a ceiling bordered by molding, but it's the kitchen that breaks away from traditional.
Featuring stainless steel appliances and white cabinetry, the couple's professional kitchen stands apart from the rest of the home's gorgeous rooms.
