Wolverine is back, but he's not holding up too well.

The first trailer for Logan dropped Thursday morning, and Hugh Jackman is back as one of the X-Men, but the world is a very different place. Taking place in 2024, Logan looks at a world where all mutants are seemingly dead. Wolverine is struggling to cope, he's not healing as quickly and he's drinking. But Charles Xavier finds him and asks him for a favor—to look after a young girl who is "very much like" Wolverine, but Logan is skeptical.

"Someone will come along," Logan says.

"Someone has already come along," Professor Xavier responds.

He ultimately agrees, but it's not without danger. Johnny Cash's "Hurt" plays over the trailer in which we see military forces track down Logan and the young girl. Despite Wolverine's struggles, he still manages to successfully use his claws to fight against those trying to reach her.

Logan is slated to be Jackman's last film as Wolverine, so comic fans are speculating that the girl is none other than Laura Kinney a.k.a. X-23, Wolverine's successor in the current comics.

There are also quick glimpses of Stephen Merchant as Caliban, wrapped in hat, scarf and goggles; as well as Boyd Holbrook's cyborg Donald Pierce.

Jackman has played Logan in eight movies already, and Logan will be his ninth. Logan hits theaters March 3, 2017.
