We couldn't tell you what's going on in the Big Little Lies trailer, but we sure are intrigued.

HBO released a new trailer for its star-studded limited series based on the 2014 book by Liane Moriarty, and it succeeds at giving pretty much nothing away while giving us everything we want from a really good trailer: sex, beautiful ocean scenes, Reese Witherspoonlooking thoughtful, and a vague sense of murder.

Big Little Lies stars Witherspoon, Shailene Woodley, and Nicole Kidman as three moms of kindergartners whose lives get real complicated when their sons become friends and personal problems start coming out, all ending up in murder. It's described as a dark comedy, even if the trailer above doesn't seem very funny.

The seven episode series, executive produced by David E. Kelley and all directed by Jean-Marc Valée (Wild), also stars Alexander Skarsgard(True Blood), Laura Dern (Jurassic Park), James Tupper (Revenge), Adam Scott(Parks and Recreation), and Zoë Kravitz (Divergent), which is a pretty solid cast if you ask us.

While Woodley starred in The Secret Life of the American Teenager for five seasons, Kidman and Witherspoon are both fairly new to the world of TV series. Kidman's last lengthy arc on a show was in 1985 on Five Mile Creek, while Witherspoon's biggest TV stint was two episodes of Friends in 2000.

Big Little Lies is coming to HBO in 2017.
