Justin Timberlake is paying tribute to Prince.

The former boy bander has dedicated his new concert film, Justin Timberlake + the Tennessee Kids, to the late music legend.

"His influence, and I have this in common with I think every musician of my generation and the generations to come, his influence is all over everyone's music and there's so much that I feel like I've maybe consciously and unconsciously borrowed from him that it felt...right," Timberlake explains. "It just feels right to dedicate the film to him."

Director Jonathan Demme agrees. "The film's been blessed with that name and that spirit," he said.

Justin Timberlake + the Tennessee Kids captures last year's final performance of J.T.'s 20/20 Experience World Tour at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

The movie premiered last month at the Toronto International Film Festival. "I'm just pinching myself," Timberlake said on the red carpet before the screening at Roy Thomson Hall. "I'm a little nervous to be honest because I guess it's a version of a character of me being on stage but it's me. I feel like I'm going to sink down in the chair."

We're happy to report Timberlake had nothing to worry about because the film is pure entertainment. Whether you've seen him in concert or not, Justin Timberlake + the Tennessee Kids gives you a front row seat—and some backstage pass—to a J.T. show.

So much so that we get to see him sweat—a lot. "I don't know how you would have hid that," Timberlake said.

Demme said, "I love when the disco towel comes out."

Justin Timberlake + the Tennessee Kids premieres on Netflix on Wednesday, Oct. 12.

And you can see—well, hear—more of Timberlake next month with the release of Trolls, the animated movie about the kitschy dolls that he co-stars in with Anna Kendrick, Gwen Stefani, James Corden, Zooey Deschanel, Jeffrey Tambor, Christopher Mintz-Plasse and many others.
