Confused about what NBC's new show Timeless is about?
Let Malcolm Barrett explain: "We travel through time."
Obviously there's more to it than that, but out of all the new shows dealing with time travel, Timeless is the one most easily described. The series follows three time travelers who chase an evil time machine thief around through different real-life historical events, complete with period costumes and recognizable historical figures.
"Each and every episode is a completely different adventure in history," Barrett continues in the video above.
Since each episode takes place during an actual historical event, you can definitely expect to learn a few things that high school history might not have covered.
"What we're going to do on our show is we're going to go back in time to what you would think would be historical events that we all know about," star Abigail Spencer explains above. "We're going to explore something that is much more minute about what happened during that time. For example, we're shooting the assassination of Abraham Lincoln, but what you don't know is that he was part of a four man coup for that night. Three other men were supposed to die that night, and they all went wrong, so Lincoln was the only one who ended up being assassinated. True story. So we have a historian in the room who's helping find these little nuggets of history, and you learn something every episode."
Basically, Timeless is TV's most interesting and most varied non-drunk history lesson, and it really is a lot of fun. It's also very pretty, which always helps, so if you're looking for a fun, pretty time travel show that comes with some cool trivia facts, Timeless is the place to be tonight.
Timeless debuts tonight at 10 p.m. on NBC.
(E! and NBC are both part of the NBC Universal family.)
