Another day, another reboot.
The CW is looking to bring back one of TV's most iconic dramas ever: Dynasty.
Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, the masterminds behind Gossip Girl and The O.C., are rebooting the '80s primetime soap opera for the network, E! News has learned. The duo will team up with Esther Shapiro and Richard Shapiro, the creators of the original series, for the modernized reboot.
Here's the log-line for the CW series: "The Rolls Royce of all primetime soaps, returns in a modernized reboot that follows two of America's wealthiest families, the Carringtons and the Colbys, as they feud for control over their fortune and their children. The series will be told primarily through the perspectives of two women at odds: Fallon Carrington—daughter of billionaire Blake Carrington—and her soon-to-be stepmother, Cristal—a Hispanic woman marrying into this WASP family and America's most powerful class. In an age where dynasties appear everywhere—from reality TV to the polling booths—this epic drama features the one percent in all its glitz and gloss, while exposing the dark underbelly: a corrupt world built on backroom deals, betrayal, and, in some cases, murder."
Dynasty ran from 1981-89 on ABC, and starred Linda Evans, John Forstyhe, Pamela Sue Martin, and, of course, Joan Collins, who joined the show in season two as Alexis. It remains to be seen if any of the characters from the original series will pop up in the reboot.
Other iconic series that have been rebooted by the CW include Beverly Hills, 90210 and Melrose Place, while Veronica Mars creator Rob Thomas is also looking to revive The Lost Boys on the network as well.
