Gym etiquette is getting worse. At least, that's how James Corden sees it.
One day after Kanye West premiered his "Fade" music video during the 2016 MTV VMAs, the host spoofed it on CBS' The Late Late Show. The bit began with Corden doing bicep curls as a sweaty Teyana Taylor—wearing kneepads, a sports bra and a thong—danced in front of him.
"Do you mind?" he asked. "It's sort of a public gym. We all have to work out in the same [place]." Taylor appeared to ignore him and continued to "work the middle," as West's lyrics instructed her to do. Corden couldn't believe what he was seeing. "Wow. I think there's actually a dance place next door," he told her. "That would be better than doing it amongst the equipment."
After Taylor got a little too close for comfort ("No one needs that much oil," Corden said), he asked her to ease up. "Do you mind maybe dialing it down just a little bit?" he asked Taylor, who dismissed him. "It feels like you're ramping up, if anything. It feels like you've ramped up."
Corden grew tired of listening to "Fade" on loop. "Are we going to listen [to only this]? Is there any other music?" he asked. "I feel like I've heard this. Is it even a song? Can you call it a song?"
When Taylor began humping the floor, Corden became transfixed by her sultry dance moves. But, the host reached his limit when Taylor appeared as a lioness alongside Cleveland Cavaliers guard Iman Shumpert (in a sea of sheep, no less). "Guys, it could not be clearer. Read the sign, OK?" Corden told the couple. "A lot of us only joined this gym because of its zero sheep policy."
"Cat-face is fine," he told Taylor, "but these have got to go."
Perhaps he'd have a better experience at Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj's gym.
